Students involved in extracurricular activities better make sure that they attend school in order to participate after school this year.
The third phase of the district’s attendance policy goes into effect for the 2017-2018 year, limiting the number of unexcused absences students may accumulate to six (6) before extra privileges are removed.
During the 2015-2016 school year students were limited to ten (10) unexcused absences with a reduction of two (2) additional days in 2016-2017. During the third phase, students are limited to six (6) unexcused absences and twenty (20) unexcused tardies.
Once students reach their sixth (6th) unexcused absence, the school will suspend their participation in a number of activities including, but not limited to, athletics, extracurricular field trips, dance, cheer, prom, and other club and organization trips that are not assessed.
