Middle and high students advance in pursuit of the Governor’s Cup

Knox County Middle School placed second in overall standing.

Governor’s Cup was founded in 1986 as a way to promote, reward and recognize outstanding academic achievement. Since then, over a quarter of a million students have taken part in the event.

Annually hundreds of students from the Tri-County area participate in district and regional competitions with sights set on attending and winning the State Governor’s Cup.

Competitions consist of eight different events including five written assessment examinations–in mathematics, science, social studies, Language Arts and arts/humanities; composition–on-demand writing, Quick Recall, and Future Problem Solving–an award-winning creative thinking competition.

Knox County Middle School hosted District Governors Cup on January 20th.  High School Governors Cup was held at Barbourville High School on January 27th.
