Committing to the next step at Lynn Camp

Students at Lynn Camp are making the public commitment to continue their education beyond high school.

On March 24, 2017, in an effort to promote a college-going culture , Lynn Camp hosted the 1st Annual College Signing Day, an initiative supported by GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) and Berea College Partners for Education.

The event was held at The Corbin Center and lunch was provided by David’s Steaks and Catering.

“This celebration supported members of the Class of 2017 and their pursuit of college”, said Kayla King, GEAR UP Academic Specialist at the school.

The College Signing Day Banquet was for seniors who had completed nine specific items on a senior checklist (FAFSA, ACT, ILP, etc.) At the banquet a college representative, the Lynn Camp College Coach, or Lynn Camp’s Guidance Counselor presented a letter of intent for the students to sign.

Jarrod Polson, former University of Kentucky Wildcat, was the guest speaker at the banquet.

“It was a great day that our students were able to share with their peers and families,” said King.  “We are extremely proud of our seniors and very grateful to Jarrod Polson and all college representatives that attended.”
