Events planned to help transition 8th grade into Knox Central

In just a few months, current 8th grade middle school students will be a freshman.  In order to make this transition a little easier, Knox Central High School has planned activities to provide information about the upcoming high school years for both students and their families.

First, 8th grade students are scheduled to attend a Career Showcase at the KCHS Field House.  This event will feature career pathway classes that are offered at KCHS and Kentucky Tech.  An important part of high school graduation is being ready for the world of careers.   This event will help in choosing the class that helps you reach this goal.

Sessions are scheduled as follows:
April 10th  Blue Team
April 11th  Gold Team
This will begin at 8:30 am each day.  Parent/guardians are invited to attend with their child.

Next, your child will be completing Pre-registration with the Guidance Counselors on April 13th.  This will take place at Knox County Middle School during the regular school day.   Students will receive general information about high school and class choices.

The last event will be a Parent/Student Night for future Panthers on April 16th and 17th from 5pm – 6:30pm each night.  Knox Central leaders have have titled this event “The Panther Way”.  Here you will receive valuable information about high school expectations, be able to tour the KCHS building, and parents will be able to see class choices of students and discuss any changes that are needed.  Because we want each of you to have time for questions, we have designated a night for each of the current 8th grade teams.  However, if you are unable to make it on this night, please choose an alternate date to attend and receive this important information.  The Panther Way is scheduled on April 16th for the Blue Team and April 17th for the Gold Team.

For more information about any session please contact the guidance department at Knox Central at 606-546-9253.
