Photo of Nate Partin at Knox CentralNathanel Partin, a sophomore at Knox Central High School, will soon have the opportunity to network with peers from other schools and learn vital leadership skills.  Partin will participate in the HOBY – Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership program on the campus of Berea College this summer.

The program is filled with interactive activities and workshops that allow students to discover their personal leadership strengths. After understanding leadership from three different perspectives, students then learn to cultivate their skills to lead others and make a positive impact in their community.

Regarding leadership, Partin states, “Leadership… is how you use your actions and attitude to inspire and encourage others.”   He also talks about the sacrifice that leaders must make continually saying specifically that “sacrifice may ensure a more positive academic outcome.”

Partin was nominated first by his iLead teacher at Knox Central.  Nominees were then reviewed, with Partin chosen based on criteria of leadership experience, attendance, behavior, and an essay on the topic of leadership.

“We are very proud of Nathanel and are sure that he will represent Knox Central well at the seminar,” said guidance counselor Charlie Collins.
