JROTC Cadets finish first competition of Pine Mountain League

JROTC Cadets from Knox County participated in the first competition of the Pine Mountain League for the 2019-2020 school year.

The league consists of Knox, Middlesboro, Corbin, Harlan County, Whitley County and Thomas Walker High School (Virginia).

The events at each competition are designed to test the skills, knowledge and physical abilities of Cadets. These include a fitness test, rope bridge, color guard and squad drill also academic reasoning.

The final challenge consisted of a secret event in which they have to navigate obstacles then shoot archery and air rifles.

Knox earned first in squad drill, 2nd in fitness and 2nd in the final secret event. There will be five more league competitions and a final overall champion to be awarded March 2020 at the Mountain Raider Challange which Knox hosts at the National Guard Training Site in Artemus.
