The Knox County Public Schools (KCPS) are one of three school districts in southeastern Kentucky that are benefiting from a multi-million dollar federal grant for a Promise Neighborhood, managed by Berea College’s Partners for Education (PFE).

Our PFE team needs families from all walks of life with children from ages 0 to 24 to join us to gain a deeper understanding and provide us with feedback about the work happening in KCPS and the whole of the Promise Neighborhood.   Members of the Council will meet three to six times a year, as determined necessary by the council members, at a time that is convenient for council members.  Commitment is for one year, but members may serve for multiple years.

Parents who have been involved have the following to say about their involvement in the Family Advisory Council:

I like to have a connection and involvement in the community and what is going on in the schools.

I enjoy learning what is going on around the district and building relationships with other parents.

What I enjoyed most is the idea and opportunity that the Knox Promise Neighborhood brings to our small community. The idea of being part of such a council, in my opinion, was awesome.
