Knox County students ranked themselves in the top of several written assessments at the District 67 middle school Governor’s Cup competition held January 18.

In the mathematics assessment, Knox Middle’s Kydan Guillen earned first place honors, Maddox Roark placed fourth, and Jayden LeFevers placed fifth.

Lynn Camp’s Jared Hopkins ranked first in the science assessment, Alex Thomas from Knox Middle came in second with Jayden LeFevers placing fourth.

Aaron Powers from Knox Middle earned first place for his knowledge of social studies followed by Lynn Camp’s Austin Partin coming in second, and Knox Middle’s Ethan Saylor rounding out the top five.

In the area of Language Arts, Katie Jackson from Knox Middle placed fourth and Cambree Prewitt placed fifth.

Knox Middle’s Maddox Roark placed third in Arts and Humanities followed by Alex Thomas coming in fourth and Lynn Camp’s Christina Powers placing fifth.

Knox Middle had three winners in the composition assessment, Katie Jackson tied for first with Alexis Fuson and Hannah Melton tieing for fifth.

The Governor’s Cup Hume Sportsmanship Award was presented to Knox County Middle School.

Knox County’s middle school winners now advance to regional Governor’s Cup which includes teams from Barbourville, Corbin, McCreary County, North Laurel, South Laurel, Whitley County, and Williamsburg.
