Chamber recognizes schools and students with highest attendance

Two Knox County schools recently received a special certificate of recognition from the Knox County Chamber of Commerce.

Flat Lick Elementary and Jesse D. Lay Elementary each had the highest student attendance in October and November respectively, earning them the Chamber’s monthly attendance award.

“The Knox County Chamber and the Southeast Chamber are happy to support the school attendance program by recognizing the school with the best attendance each month with a certificate,” said Claudia Greenwood, a representative for the Knox County Chamber.

“Also, those who have only missed one day in each school are put into a drawing for four movie tickets.”

The county and tri-county chambers are hoping by addressing and rewarding good attendance early, that the pattern will continue throughout life.

“We do this to not only to support our schools, but to encourage good attendance patterns.  Good school attendance normally equals good work attendance.  Our goal is to make better students and better employees.”
