Some of Knox County’s youngest minds will challenge one another this fall as the Knox County Academic League is set to kick off their 2018 season on August 29 with Flat Lick Elementary hosting Dewitt. Each game is divided up into rookie, junior varsity, and varsity matches with teams representing all of Knox County’s elementary schools including Barbourville Independent. At the end of the season in December, the county’s top teams and most valuable players will be recognized during an awards ceremony tentatively scheduled for December 7 at the Old Rock Gym on the campus of Knox County Middle School.
