Dewitt receives Read Across America library grant

Students at Dewitt Elementary received an early gift this December, not from Santa, but from the Cat in the Hat.

Dewitt was one of several schools across the nation to receive a grant award from the National Education Association’s Read Across America and the NEA Foundation.  Read Across America is a project of NEA that uses Dr. Seuss and the Cat in the Hat for its nationwide reading initiative.

The grant, totaling $1,000, will be used to purchase diverse books for the school library.

The 2016 NEA’s Books Across America Library Books Awards are made possible by a contribution by The Weinstein Company and Walden Media in connection to their recent film The Giver, based on the popular young adult novel by Lois Lowry.
