News of a grant award is bringing smiles to the faces of students at Dewitt.
The school recently received notification that they will be receiving a Delta Dental of Kentucky and Fund for the Arts grant. Named “Making Smiles Happen – Arts in Education”, the grant will provide $2,906 to enhance students art experiences. Those experiences will include groups visiting the school and making connections between what students are learning in the classroom to the performing arts.
Delta Dental will also be sending Dewitt an oral health education kit that includes toothbrushes for all the students.
“We are excited to receive this grant,” said Marcie Walker, principal at Dewitt. “Our teachers Rhonda Gambrel and Tammy Gray wrote the grant so that our students could gain first hand experiences that normally they could only read about or watch electronically.”
