Board of Education meeting set for Monday, January 28

The Knox County Board of Education will conduct their first meeting of the new calendar year on Monday night, January 28, 6:30 p.m., at the Board of Education Annex building (199 Daniel Boone Drive, Barbourville).

Reciting the Pledge of Allegiance this month will be the Girdler Elementary kindergarten class.

Carrie Runyon Smith, newly elected Board member, will be sworn in at the beginning of the meeting by the Honorable Judge William Skip Hammons.  January is also Board Member Recognition Month.  All five members will be recognized for their service to our schools and the community.

Also receiving recognition at the meeting will be the district’s finance staff.  School bookkeepers, clerks, and district staff will be honored for the past consecutive years of clean audits.

Any changes to the communications/recognition agenda due to inclement weather will be announced on Monday.
